Travel, our way.

I’ve found that most travelers these days like to have some autonomy, freedom and flexibility to travel at their own pace. Megan and I certainly do. When we travel, we like to walk, hike, take in a museum, explore, and of course, eat. In the evening, we stroll from a wine bar to performance, then tuck in to a cocktail bar. If we’re feeling it, we’ll try a few.

“The best laid plans...”

Megan and Michael in Paris

We put a lot of work into our travel plans, hoping to ensure we make the most of our precious little time spent at our destination. If you’re like us, you get inspired to adventure to a place, then get the algorithms of your social media platform of choice going to feed more content and spur new ideas. But despite our best efforts, when we’re there, in the mode of travel, we often find ourselves pivoting. We want more time, less time, blame it on the weather…

Further, we often find ourselves wanting some more explanation or context to a place than the historical markers and placards may provide.

But, I don’t want to be “a tourist.” And neither do a lot of folks. I’ve been talking to many, many, travelers and have found that more often people want to travel in a way that is complementary to the local culture and not disruptive. They want to explore incognito, but appreciate and pursue curiosity.

Traditional tours are often too restrictive in content, timeline, and language, prompting adventurous travelers to opt for independent and unguided exploration.

But they want to explore, learn, and appreciate new places!

These curiously-minded travelers seek knowledge, cultural discovery, flexibility to explore at their own pace, and assurance that they’re experiencing important sights and flavors from an informed perspective.

Until Megano, there’s not been an effective way to address these challenges.

We’re building Megano for ourselves and travelers like us.
